Not Thrilled With Your Website? Give it Some Love in 2018!
We may be nearing the third month of 2018, but that doesn't mean you still can't harness the energy that the new year presents. It's not just about setting resolutions, but rather about grabbing opportunity, leading with a "Yes, and" attitude, and making your business the best it can be.
For so many, anything that may seem "techie" is an immediate turnoff, and websites definitely fall into that category. Whether you need a brand new website, a website refresh, landing page, or sales funnel, chances are that you haven't done anything about it because just the THOUGHT causes you anxiety.
But let's dive into why that might be.
You Don't Want to Deal With It
We completely get not wanting to deal with it and putting it off, whether that's redoing the look and feel, or finally getting a website for your business. Chances are, however, that if you have a website and it's not where you want or need it to be, it's hurting your business. That right there is reason enough for serious consideration.
Most designers will give you a website that hits the mark, but has been created in such a way, with custom coding (which you're probably not sure what that even is), that the client can't even use it when it's done. Even finding out how to log in makes you want to rip your hair out. We believe it's important to not only create a stunning website, but one that our clients can use after the fact.
You've Been Burned in the Past
We can't tell you how many times we've heard from our clients of how they've been wronged in the past by various designers. We've heard stories where our clients have paid a deposit, and their designer runs off without another word or any work done to the site. Tales of clients paying exorbitant amounts of money for a product that completely crushes them with how terrible/cringeworthy/disastrous/*insert negative adjective here* the website ended up.
And what surprises us the most is the number of clients who have worked with designers that don't offer them the protection of a contract. It's important to not only hold each other accountable, but to offer security. For us, we put our clients first. And that means protecting them. While contracts offer designers the security of payment (because we can pursue legal action if not paid), it holds designers accountable to deliver on what they promised.
You Don't Think It's in the Budget
The financial commitment to web design can be significant, depending on what you may need and what designer you're working with. We've worked with other designers in the past that have pushed for us to sign at a higher level than we really needed because they were more concerned about their bottom line than actually helping us and building a relationship.
We like to take many things into consideration before we recommend a service to our clients. Many know what they're looking for already, but for those who aren't sure just what they need, they put their trust in the designer to have their best interests at heart. Client relationships are so valuable to a business; without them, it's near impossible to have a strong referral base or positive reviews (which are vital!).
You Don't Know What You Need
Perhaps one of the scariest parts of seeking out website help is not knowing what you need or even the options available to you. Added to the equation that some designers will hope to take advantage of the situation, it's hard to navigate the situation. The first thing anyone who's looking for help with a website, landing page, sales funnel, or any other similar service would be to find a designer they can trust.
At the end of the day, this business is all about trust and respect. When those two aspects are left at the door, so many bad things can happen. We strive to have integrity in every situation and build a relationship with every client. We've been on the receiving end of some pretty terrible situations as a client, so we do everything we can to make sure our clients don't have to go through what we did!
